You’ve reached the website for The Midwestern Education to Workforce Policy Initiative: Seamless Development of Talent for the 21st Century.  The Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), together with the Council of State Governments’ Midwestern Legislative Conference and Midwestern Governors Association, are partners in this unique initiative to advance regional educational and economic development.  States participating in the initiative are Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The Education to Workforce Initiative (or “E2W” for short) is designed to facilitate the work of intrastate teams of legislators, governors, educators, and business leaders to address the need to link P-16 education systems and workforce development efforts to generate a thriving, 21st century economy.  Through working together, states will be equipped with the tools they need to build a knowledgeable, skilled, and creative workforce to drive sustained economic growth and diversification.  An associated objective of E2W is to enable citizens to make successful and seamless transitions between and among formal education systems, job training programs, and the workplace.
